Review of Che: Part One (2008) by Stéphane R — 11 Jul 2009
The exceptional character and the surrounding story should have made an exceptional movie.
However, I think Soderbergh clearly missed it.
The overall structure of the movie seemed very artificial to me: the alternance between Cuban revolution story and Che's intervention at the UN affects the rythm and imho doesn't bring much to the movie. The way some scenes are filmed are also artificial (see dining scene shot as a reflection in a mirror: why?).
Bad news is the 2nd part is even worst (see review).
