Review of Che: Part One (2008) by J K — 26 Nov 2009
I've always been a big Benicio Del Toro fan and have been puzzled by his etherial nature. He shows up in the best of roles then disappears. Cinema needs this man in more films, just as long as he stays away from family drek.
Anyway, Del Toro is in fine form as Che Guevara. It was as if he was channeling the deceased revolutionary's spirit. Hell, he even looks like Che. This film is more a historical recount of the moments leading up to that fateful trip to Bolivia.
Well acted, well written and a fantastic directoral effort out of Steven Soderbergh.
