Review of Che: Part One (2008) by Roy S — 31 Jan 2012
I've seen some hagiographic biopics of undeserving scumbags in my time, but this one is really something. I kept expecting him to get a cat out of a tree for some reason, or to deliver a baby. I generally like Soderbergh's films, but this one is a bit on the dull side.
Del Toro's Guevara is okay, but the guy who plays Castro really stands out in his brief infrequent appearances. Nice production values, too. It's just too damned reverent for its own good.
