Review of Chato's Land (1972) by Steve W — 28 Feb 2015
Chato is just trying to get a drink when a racist sheriff calls him out for being a half breed and tries to bleed him on the spot. Chato shoots first, and a rabid and racist and varied posse come after him.
What follows is a very dark and savage western tale. Chato leads the posses back to his territory and gives them plenty of chances to turn back, but they attack his family and unleash the full vengeance.
Charles Bronson is not the main focus, as its mainly on the colourful posses and their squabbles. Minimalist and violent, Chato's Land is a vengeful western with a lot of grit.
