The movie is based on a true story about a young surfer in northern CA. I really liked the movie. Definitely about determination, hard work but overall a story about self-discovery for the Gerard Butler/mentor character and the young surfer/mentee.
Some really gorgeous surfing scenes that just took my breath away in the theater. I definitely recommend this movie.
