Hollywood typically exaggerates and over dramatizes events to make them fit the larger than life expectations of theater goers these days. In the case of Mavericks, they didn't have to. It's just that damn dramatic in real life.
And the cameras caught it perfectly. It's definitely the best surfing dramatization to ever come out of Hollywood.
