Review of Chasing Mavericks (2012) by Scott Z — 14 Mar 2013
It tries a little too hard to be dramatic and have a father-son connection that doesn't come off on screen as strong. The idea is very basic and unoriginal, but the surfing scenes are quite cool and it does seem to have some depth to the ideas behind the training and preparation for the waves.
Butler does a decent job, but does not leave an outstanding memory. Weston was down right awkward and bad to watch and it really takes away from the whole ability to enjoy the story factor.
