Review of Chasing Liberty (2004) by Manny C — 10 Mar 2011
Mandy Moore tries for Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, but the movie fails her miserably. Moore is American royalty playing eighteen year old Anna Foster, a president's daughter who abdicates her role and goes rogue in Europe with Brit hunk, Ben (Matthew Goode, gorgeous).
The on location shooting in Prague and Venice looks fantastic, but the movie suffers from a terrible case of blandness. Moore is devoid of any charm and energy. Worse, director Andy Cadiff drains better actors like Jeremy Piven and Annabella Sciorra as two flirtatious Secret Service agents.
Chasing Liberty is blandness defined.
