One of smith's more inconsistent movies. Sometimes very honest, funny and charming yet it can also be very overdramatic and moody. Some scenes are played to an effect where they are supposed to be dramatic and then they go overboard with the topic.
Later in the next scene, we see the tone has shifted to be funny. But the movie is quite hilarious at times and still comes up with ways for some brilliant conversations to find their way into the movie.
The fully fleshed out characters are so raw and honest with their personalities, it takes you deeper and deeper into the drama. Chasing Amy is a very well made, honest and funny comedy/drama that is guaranteed to charm.
