Review of Charlotte Gray (2001) by Matthew P — 23 Jul 2008
Charlotte Gray is truly a wonderful film, highlighting the way a member of the resistance may have worked. The story starts by leading into a good reason for any person to enter a war-torn country, in this case love for a missing pilot. The plot is realistic, no matter what people say. There would have been Nazi troops marching around Vichy France, trains towards death camps would have left France and there was an active resistance is practically all the villages. The ending a bit odd though, as when Charlotte Gray actually re-unites with her lost pilot for whom she's risked everything, she decides to go back to France after the war and see the French man with whom she had worked with.
Overall a good movie. It's certainly not boring or dull. It's interesting and filmed in beautiful Southern French countryside which adds to the overall beauty of this well scripted film.
