Review of Charlie Wilson's War (2007) by Isabelle P — 21 Jun 2009
An enjoyable film that succeeds because the script is quite funny, even if it does get a little confusing at times with all of the political connections (for people that may not know much of the history of the Afghans' war against the Russians), and because of the gelling of the cast.
Hoffman in particular is perfectly cast as the CIA agent. Not a perfect movie, or one you may even feel the need to see again, but it's smart and funny, and portrays quite well how the U.S. shot itself in the foot with Afghanistan.
