Review of Charlie Wilson's War (2007) by Russell G — 08 Dec 2011
It was interesting movie that has a witty charm to it but also had a lot of thoughtful points to make as well. Tom Hanks is great in his part as womanizing party boy senator, who all of a sudden finds himself set on helping the Middle East in their war against Russia.
What stands out the most are the final scenes how a government will spend billions to overthrow an oppressive regime but will not spend even a couple thousand dollars to rebuild and cultivate a prosperous future.
It is pretty relevant to foreign conflicts of the 2000s and was made to make a strong political point.
