Review of Charlie Wilson's War (2007) by Brad S — 15 Jan 2010
Hoffman steals the show with a top performance in an interesting film which is politically intellectual but contrived at the same time. Too much poetic licencing embellishes Charlie Wilson's character to be improbably larger than life, in spite of his undoubted idiosyncracies.
Whilst the film is overly sentimental and panders to a simplistic moral ending which taints the film with an overly Hollywoodesque perspective, its well paced with good quick witted scenes and a really good watch and some fine acting.
