Zac Efron gave a great performance in this simplified adaptation of the novel of the same name by Ben Sherwood. Since I'd read the book prior to seeing the movie, I saw the plot twists coming a mile away.
Nonetheless, I really think Efron is coming into his own as a leading man, and I think the film did a generally decent job of offering the story of a complicated young man with a past, and the [could-have-been-more] mysterious young woman that captivates his lonely heart.
Good romance, but not for kids (older teens and up).
