Review of Charlie St. Cloud (2010) by Ken F — 28 Jun 2011
Charlie St. Cloud was an inspiring movie which shows the importance of a family and an unbreakable promise. The movie was based on Ben Sherwood's novel, "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud".
Letting go was the hardest part.....
The story started when Charlie and his younger brother, Sam joining a professional sailing competition. Charlie was a great sailor while Sam was a baseball fanatic. Charlie got his sailing scholarship in Stanford University and promise Sam that he will practice baseball together before he leaves for Stanford. They life changed after a car accident that kills Sam and almost Charlie.
After five years, Charlie gave up his scholarship and become the caretaker of the cemetery. He still kept his promise and always practices baseball with Sam's spirit at the woods. One day, Charlie met his old classmate Tess, who is also a sailor. The two develop a relationship that leads Charlie to forget Sam.
Days after Charlie met Tess, he discover that Tess was missing three days ago; everything was clear now to Charlie that the Tess that he saw was only a spirit like Sam's. Charlie decides to find Tess, believing that she still alive somewhere.
The story ends after Charlie found Tess and they decide to leave the town to sail around the world.
I like the whole story because it shows that there's a special connection between us and to our love ones, even they were too far from us. We don't see them but we feel them because they are important to us and that's what the movie is all about. I don't mind if the movie appears to be ROTTEN but I love the film and no one can change that. .
