Review of Charlie Countryman (2013) by Ethan B — 26 Jul 2014
While I really wanted to like this because of the indie-hipster feel to it, the plot, at the end at least, just made me dislike it with all I have. I think the cast is great nevertheless.
This movie failed to make a real connection between the lovers, and it has the typical happy ending that I was hoping it'd be avoided. You don't live happily ever after, after people from a mafia have been after you to kill you, it's unrealistic. Why couldn't they just make it of him dying in order for her to be free? How about less unnecesary unrealistic happy endings, and start writing some more deep, think-about-it-a-lot-after-the-movie-ends endings?
I think the direction was good, though, and as I said, great cast, great locations, great soundtrack.
