Review of Charlie Bartlett (2008) by Jeff B — 22 Apr 2009
The Trailer for this film had me interested, but I guess not interested enough to either see it in the theatres or buy it on DVD. Surprisingly gritty and dark at times, this wasn't the barrel of laughs that it was portrayed to be.
That said, I enjoyed it enough. I often find Kate Dennings to be entertaining, although, I'm not sure why and it's usually role dependent. Anton Yelchin was strong and funny. And who else can better play the role of a droll alcoholic?! A bit predictable, and a few plot points definitely seem forced; Susan being a singer, Charlie coming to terms with his father, The principle finally accepting Charlie.
Entertaining enough though.
