Review of Charlie Bartlett (2008) by Eric L — 03 May 2009
Anton Yelchin turns in a great performance in Charlie Bartlet, a darker and far more rounded portrayal than most of the other Fast Times, or Bueller clones. While Bartlet does fell a lot like Bueller in a lot of ways it claims its own characters, story, and unique identity.
Yelchin is baked up by a terrific cast, most notably Robert Downey Jr. and Hope Davis, both of whom turn in very nuanced performances. A film with many layers that stands up to repeat viewings. Charlie Bartlet definitely will take its place next to the classics.
