Review of Charlie Bartlett (2008) by Gary G — 26 Jun 2009
(4 stars out of 5) I couldn't help but love this film, aside from Anton Yelchin's nearly flawless performance as a rich kid kicked out of private school trying to find his niche in public school--the large supporting cast held their own while playing to their stereotypical strengths.
I can best sell it by saying it's the Ferris Beuller for the Juno-generation. (If only Ferris had more heart, compassion and/or struggle.) Although the movie doesn't take itself too seriously, it definitely has a few darker moments.
In the end, you still feel satisfied-even with the Hollywood ending.
