Review of Charlie Bartlett (2008) by Colby M — 09 Jan 2010
This kid Anton Yelchin continues to impress me. He somehow finds a way to make an emotional connection with the audience in every movie I've seen him in. I didn't love Charlie Bartlett but it was still pretty solid.
The storyline wasn't anything special, but it also wasn't that bad at the same time. It was a little obvious that Ferris Bueler's Day Off had influenced this movie, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Other than Anton Yelchin, I think my favorite part of this movie was Robert Downey Jr. He gave us a near perfect performance but, to be honest, I've come to expect nothing less from an actor of his caliber.
I would say that you should watch this film just because of those two great actors because, other than them, there's really nothing all that special about Charlie Bartlett.
