Review of Charlie Bartlett (2008) by Jenny M — 10 Apr 2010
This may be just another tired teenage high school drama but it definitely has its redeeming qualities. Anton Yelchin is very adorable and funny in the leading role and carries the movie with marvelous charm and intellect.
Robert Downey Jr. is great as the alcoholic principal with a dark past and Kat Dennings (who seems to play the same role in every movie) is witty and fun to watch. This movie has its funny moments and its heartfelt moments, and although the story isn't very fresh or original (a lesser Ferris Bueller), its still a great angsty tale about teenage troubles.
