Review of Charlie Bartlett (2008) by Jen M — 31 Dec 2010
As misguided as it is informative, "Charlie Bartlett" provides an interesting commentary about actively dealing with adolescent problems, even if such measures taken by the titular character are quite illicit.
Under its surface, the film is a satirical commentary about teen angst and the social problems that teenagers in high school face, and also the adults who are struggling to understand them. Yelchin and Downey, Jr.
deliver stellar performances, and the film, though sporadic in tone, manages to entertain those who enjoy John Hughes-styled comedy.
