Review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) by Christian L — 17 Mar 2013
Johnny Depp's Wonka is so strange, and yet I can't help but want to be his best friend. I loved David Kelly as Grandpa Joe and it was nice to see Mr. Lee as Wonka's Father. I can't express how much I adore the Oompa Loompa songs, sang by Danny Elfman OH GOD DANNY ELFMAN.
There's lots of great style here courtesy of Tim Burton. I still don't understand all the bad words said against him, YES Johnny Depp is in several of his movies, but a lot of other directors do the same thing so what's the point! I guess people just like to pick on him because he has a certain style, but that's why he's described as an 'auteur'.
Anyway, this isn't meant to be a rant but I always liked this and I used to quote it a lot, all the acting is pretty good but I still don't understand why it's in Britain and they're using dollars!
