Review of Charley Varrick (1973) by Andrew M — 03 Oct 2008
This was the second film in the "Walter Matthau Saves the World" double feature at the New Beverly. Very enjoyable, but a little slower than Pelham. What surprised my friend and I about this film were it's similarities with the Coens' No Country For Old Men.
Cormac McCarthy had to have seen this flick. It even has an unstoppable hitman played with pleasure by Mr. Joe Don Baker. Not my favorite Don Siegel film (that would be Dirty Harry) but it was very cool.
