Review of Charles Band's Puppet Master: Axis of Evil (2010) by Shawn-Ray M — 31 Jul 2010
I don't know why I get my hopes up every time a new Full Moon film is released. Back in the early 90 to mid 90's these direct to video films were awesome and fun to watch! I looked forward to them every month!
Then around 95 or 96 they split from Paramount and their production values suffered tremendously! And thanks to digital video the production values still suck!
The latest entry to the Puppet Master series was thought to be back to basics and a come back to the glory days of the 90's. Sadly, this didn't happen.
The plot was weak, frankly I never watched Full Moon films for plot they were just cheesy B films, and the look of the film had a real claustrophobic feel to it. It kinda of felt like a soap opera set style but in your parents basement from different angles.
What really disappointed me the most was that the puppets were not even in the film that much! What was the point of even having them if you were just going to keep them still?
I believe this was my last chance for the return of Full Moon. Their films are just not the same anymore and it clearly shows.
