Review of Chariots of Fire (1981) by Perrine M — 04 Nov 2008
CONSENSUS: Uncomfortably slower in pace than it needs to be, this is nonetheless a mildly inspiring story (despite the semi-religious overtones) that includes a series of stupendous performances. The now easily recognizable music score is absolutely perfect in capturing the emotion and spirit the movie attempts to convey and accompanies one of the greatest film openings of all time.
An admirable sense of commitment is portrayed throughout the picture and though RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK certainly deserved the Oscar, this is still a pleasant movie to watch. MY GRADE: B.
