Review of Chariots of Fire (1981) by Mark G — 31 Jan 2009

Unfortunately for this classic, it juggles two disparate stories that interact very little. It's a shame, too because either of the two characters could have been the central figure and received much more fleshing out. This doesn't detract from the generally excellent acting and cinematography. The action footage--that is, the races--while dated by today's standards, feels just fine in the context of the movie.

The sound track is unusual for a sports movie, and even moreso for a period piece. But it is Vangelis, and it is awesome.
