Review of Chariots of Fire (1981) by Brad G — 02 Feb 2009
Deserves mention simply by winning an Academy Award for Best Picture whilst portraying a Christian character in a wholly positive light. I guess miracles do happen. Everyone knows the Vangelis soundtrack by heart, but this movie resonates on the strength of the true-life story of two guys who realized they had a gift and pursued it with great intensity.
Some call this film boring, but I found it to be... cozy, for lack of a better term. I loved the lofty English settings, the wool coats, the dirt tracks. It's a film that really pulled me into its time, despite the new-age soundtrack.
