Review of Charade (1963) by Matthew B — 09 Apr 2011
I can't deny the talent and how smooth the acting is within this movie. There are times where the banter between the characters has me rolling on the floor laughing where other times it shows its era.
I remember seeing this when I was very small and liking it though as a child as 13 at the time I understood very little of the movie as I do now. Still it shows its age with four men fighting over 100k worth of money, even more so where it is hidden.
I can't deny the brilliance of the acting ala the scene where Audrey Hepburn is freaking out at James Coburn flicking matches at her and Cary Grant walks in right afterwards and she screams feaked out. As he says his line she returns it in equal measure causing me to laugh at scene and its set up.
In the end its a little slow for my taste but it is older then me so maybe I'm just spoiled by the newer movies.
