Review of Charade (1963) by Matt M — 17 Jan 2013
A woman on the verge of a divorce finds out her husband was thrown off a train, and that he was an agent who stole a quarter of a million dollars from the American government. Now, she must find that money to save her life from crooks, but also, perhaps, from the man helping her - a man with too many secrets and hidden loyalties, but whom she can't help but trust and fall in love with.
A wonderfully engaging mystery film filled with twists thanks to its suspenseful Agatha Christie like screenplay, lots of witty dialogue and colourful characters portrayed by an excellent cast. Donen's film perfectly balances suspense with comedy - the result is a delightful work that is among the best of its kind.
