Review of Chapter 27 (2007) by Mitch M — 08 Dec 2010
A stupid, boring, poorly made thriller with one char (if u dont count Lindsayu Lohans overall 5 min screentime). This film goes into depth in the dark mind of John L.'s killer. What he went through before the murder, and why he did it.
Jared Leto gets no props for this very lifeless performace. Well I shouldnt say lifeless, he tries, but fails miserably. The script doesnt work, and his little whisper voice is only laughable. I mean Lindsay Lohan did okay, even if she was a nameless, random char.
Actually, she was the best in the film. And that is a a problem. If a background actor steals the show, then there is something majorly wrong with this one. They made Chapman look like a freaking psychopath, and although he might have been a little crazy, he was not that bad.
It just goes to show Hollywood over exagerating stories. Another thing is this, this is a side story. This movie should have been about the WHOLE ordeal, not just the killers point of view. Because lets face it, his point of view is bland, and lifeless.
I can see it kind of being a background thing, in a movie much bigger with much more chars. John L should have been the main char, and Chapman being the background story. But a 2/10 is what it gets and I dont recommend.
