Review of Chappie (2015) by Synysterslayer — 21 Mar 2015
I've come to understand if "professional critics" don't like a movie usually us common folk consumers do. This movie does a great job of not taking it self too seriously with drawn out plot points and extreme overacting. It keeps a fast pace with a healthy mix of comedy, drama, and action.
This movie reminded me that going to the movies should be fun. Ninja and Yolandi were clearly given some creative control over the scenes they were in. Critics may not appreciate their unique approach to the arts, but these two managed to take the creative uniqueness from their music and inject it into acting. It creates a unique atmosphere that really made this movie shine.
This movie wont be winning any awards for drama or action. No, this movie succeeds in a more important aspect. It's entertaining which is something a lot of movies lately have failed at. So grab yourself some popcorn and a drink and have fun.
