Review of Chappie (2015) by Robert D — 04 Jan 2016
Chappie is the next movie on director Neil Blomkamp's belt, that doesn't impress. This movie could have been far better, but disappoints in every way. The movie opens with a promising start, showcasing the robots in action.
Once the creator gets hold of chappie, the movie goes downhill, when it should be going up. He's left with these boring gangsters who teach him to do bad things. You just can't help but feel bad the entire movie and watch at how cool chappie could have become.
So instead of an amazing intelligent robot, we are forced to watch him become immoral. The movie picks up a little bit towards the end, but you don't care for any of these characters. Ninja and Yolandi felt completely out of place and should have been replaced with real actors.
Hopefully he can make another brilliant film like District 9 in the future.
