It's the updated version of Short Circuit, now set in bizzaro South Africa. The film has visual appeal, and occasionally does have some emotional intensity, but it brought nothing to the sci-fi discussion other than what Johnny 5 already brought 30 years ago.
Except, perhaps, for some new crazy fashion ideas. Unfortunately for Blomkamp, despite his many talents at cinematography and character creation, this film has already managed to fade into obscurity a couple months after release.
