It's a shame chappie has a lot of potential. The movie is kind of a combination of Robocop, short circuit, and big hero six. Chappie is a likable character and some of the effects are pretty impressive.

What bothered me here was the script. The story spends too much time with chappie with a group of thugs in an abandoned warehouse. There chappie learns to steal cars and act like a gangster. And did I mention the acting from the gangsters is absolutely horrible? There's parts of chappie I really liked but it could've been much better with a better script.
