Review of Chaplin (1992) by Keith J — 12 Nov 2008
While it followed Chaplin's life from young to old, I didn't feel attached to him as I did with, say John Nash in A Beautiful Mind, for example. It felt as if they tried to tell his life too close to the books, and didn't think much of priority and what to focus on more than other subjects in his life.
Overall, it seemed as if there was simply too much information to try to fit in two-and-a-half hours -- which was a long running time as it was. Downey Jr. was, as expected, spot-on, and the references and direct homages to Chaplin's work were a nice touch.
