Review of Chaplin (1992) by Gustav L — 21 Dec 2008
Robert Downey Jr is entrancing- portraying Chaplin through the years. Kevin Kline is a joy, Anthony Hopkins is a treat to see and hear despite the simple role, and Paul Rhys is underappreciated. However, I felt that the rest of the cast was unremarkable, despite their famous names.
Moreover, the film's pacing at times felt too "made-for-tv/hallmark" movie-ish. But none of this detracts from the main performance.
