Review of Chaplin (1992) by Jonathan G — 01 Oct 2012
Robert Downey Jr. is the sole reason that this biopic of the entertainment and comic legend is worth viewing. RDJ's Oscar-nominated precision with the British accent and mimicking Chaplin's wit and antics make this quite enjoyable.
Diane Lane also continues to win my heart with her very loving portrayal of one of Chaplin's ex-wives. The movie could have dug much deeper into Chaplin's heart and head, but kept it at a safe distance.
For those who adore Chaplin or the industry he helped thrive- this is worth a rental, maybe owning, for the acting sake.
