Review of Chaplin (1992) by Cole M — 19 Jul 2009
A brilliantly crafted biopic that boasts the originality and genius of Cahplin as well the actor portraying him. Downey Jr. portrays the ultimate king of comedy of the silent era and possibly of all time. His performance aims at making a perfect replica of Chaplin's performances and he fulfills this charge with brilliant class.
Chaplin's tale is one of personal conflict, depicting a 'drive' that is so inspiring. The film also mocks the paranioa and idiocy of cold-war America, an idealogy which sadly alienated a master.
