Review of Chaplin (1992) by Jonathan H — 19 Apr 2011
I'm a huge Chaplin fan, and I think that's why I can't get into this movie. I find Downey Jr. affected in this role, as opposed to genius like everyone thinks he is. The movie is also too long, the re-inactments of classic scenes don't quite work, and the bits where they depict real world events as a Chaplin comedy take me right out of the film.
That said, the supporting cast and Milla Jovovich and her nipple slip make it worth at least one watch every 20 years.
