Review of Changing Lanes (2002) by Jordan M — 28 Dec 2008
Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson make great sparring partners in this gripping American thriller. Gavin Banek (Ben Affleck), a lawyer, and Doyle Gipson (Samuel L. Jackson) a phone salesman, just got in a car-wreck on the FDR in Manhattan.
Doyle, wants to do things right and trade insurance, however, Gavin is in a hurry and leaves Doyle stranded but leaves behind a file from his briefcase that is a major play in his civil trial. What follows is a cataclysmic stage of events that will change both menâ??s lives forever.
Anchored by the performances of Affleck and Jackson, Changing Lanes is an engrossing film. The only misstep is that it gets a little preachy and doesnâ??t leave much for the audience to figure out on its own.
