Review of Changing Lanes (2002) by J M — 29 Jun 2007
Having collided on the freeway one morning Doyle Bibson (Samuel L Jackson) and Gavin Banek (Ben Affleck) end up exchanging more than insurance details, as they become engaged in a horribly escalating battle of tit for tat.
Bibson is an alcoholic father on the way to a hearing that could lose him his kids, Banek a highflying lawyer about to close a very big "deal". Needless to say the prang ends up leaving them both in serious trouble, with each man refusing to back down, and the to-ing and fro-ing becoming increasingly violent.
With seriously good acting from the two main leads (yes even Affleck) and a plot that zips along at breakneck speed this is a thoroughly enjoyable film. And not a bad advert for public transport.
