Review of Changeling (2008) by Jean Carlos T — 15 Apr 2011
Is beautiful, unforgettable, incredible, powerful! This is one of the best Clint Eastwood's pictures and the most underrated of all his films.
This film is excellent. Almost perfect. It's superb on it's direction, flawless performances, and a superb script.
It's direction is great, of course it's Clint Eastwood's direction, is so catching and so simplistic that is great.
The film's greatness is because of the performances. Angelina Jolie was superb in that film, her best performance ever (I haven't seen "Girl, Interrupted" but her performance in "Girl, Interrupted" can't be better than her performance in this film). I have seen a lot of her, but nothing like these, while maybe the action genre is her genre, the drama is better for her. Kate Winslet deserved the Oscar for "The Reader", but this is Oscar worthy too. She isn't acting, she IS the character, I guess she imagined that the lost son was one of her kids, because that was natural.
The script is so sad, so bright, so hopeless but, somehow at the same time, is so hopeful. It has depht and power; it's an amazing film, with an amazaing, intelligent, and beautiful/sad script.
The film is so low rated and so underrated that is just sad. It's sad to see a film so great being so underrated.
REALLY RECOMMENDED: 10.
