Expert directing which led to some outstanding performances by everyone involved. Obviously Jolie and Malkovich stand out in my mind because they are such tremendous personalities in the film. Jolie's best work in quite some time playing a very different character from herself.
A story about a woman fighting for her child in a time where women weren't supposed to be anything but fragile, emotional cripples who knew their place.
