Review of Changeling (2008) by James P — 21 Dec 2013
Typical Eastwood fare: star power, but then some odd casting choices as well (in this case Jeffrey Donovan who looks - and acts - like a 25 year old in a role made for a 45 year old), a decent script but some unpolished takes and all in all a bit too.
..earnest. Jolie is fine in the role of Christine Collins (Oscar-worthy? Not so much) and Malkovich works well as the crusading Rev. Briegleb. Michael Kelly is always an under-appreciated supporting actor.
The film had me engrossed at times and rolling my eyes at others - again, typical of Eastwood films. I don't think I'd recommend this one to the casual viewer, but if you like other Eastwood yarns, you'll eat this one up.
