Review of Chalet Girl (2011) by Countess N — 15 Oct 2011
A fluffy, fresh romcom that is much better than expected - it is a bit of a shame that many people probably won't watch it because of its genre, but it is the best example that romcoms can actually be fun and heartwarming! The story is, like in any romcom out there, predictable and unoriginal, but the characters are warm and embracing, the story is well paced and structured. Brilliantly in British in writing style, with many humorous moments that make you laugh and good acting all along! I had lots of fun while watching this film and I fell in love with the stunning pictures it delivers... there were definitely some great mountains shots!
It could have been better, that's for sure, but overall it is really a splendid film giving you a good time. Highly entertaining and pleasant, it's sort of a celebration of female self-empowerment, and a way of telling people that giving up is not the falling down but the staying down, and that with your brain and feet you can always choose your life's direction... well, this film surely attracts more the female public, but it has so much positive enegery that I can recommend it to everyone. It's escapiest fun... a guilty pleasure for me :-).
