I found this film visually beautiful, but badly written. Were we supposed to have not figured out til the end that they were married? My friend and I both began to assume this mid-film (independently) and found the rest of the film to be confusing in the way it went absolutely nowhere.

There is a scene in a square with screeching birds so loud, it took a few minutes to realize they weren't in the theater with us. Distracting. Also, the son is introduced in the very beginning then there is practically no other reference to him, which is odd if the idea is that this couple is exploring their marriage.

And then what? By the end I felt no sympathy for these characters. Big disappointment of a film.
