Review of Certified Copy (2010) by Daniel A — 07 Nov 2011
Utterly brilliant study of two character's; apparently unrelated, whose continued intimacy begins to slowly unravel the boundaries of their relationship and in doing so provocatively and playfully questions the cinematic constraints of on-screen romance and the difficulties of adult relationships.
The fact that Binoche and Carriere are believable, realistic and authentically sensual in their portrayal of this relationship that may be flourishing or declining (it's never really confirmed) and Kiarostami's static minimalist camera is droll and intrusive helps this film continually surprise and satisfy throughout it's lengthy running time.
