Review of Centurion (2010) by Movie K — 17 Jan 2011

Was average movie and story. Quite a few gory fight scenes. The Roman empire continues to expand but met a strong foe in the form of Picts. They use terrain to their advantage and fight in guerilla style.

The ultimate order is to have them defeated once and for all. Movie start off with an injured Michael Fassbender running through the snow field. Then two weeks before, the camp he was in was attacked by a group of Picts tribes.

He could speak their language and was captured back alive. Dominic West is a general of the ninth region, finally get to see action in the frontline. The general got help from a super hunter who is mute Olga Kurylenko, from his boss.

Michael manage to escape into the woods and was chase by Picts. Olga found him and the soldiers save him. He joins Dominic upfront. During the march, they were ambushed and heavily defeated. Olga is a traitor.

Dominic is capture. Michael survives, along with just a handful. The 7 of them are going to rescue Dominic. Olga is been trained from young by Picts and the plan to gain the romans trust fulfills. At the night rescue mission, J.

J Feild kills the son of their leader. The others are unable to break the chains that lock Dominic and has to go. Next day, Dominic is given a chance to fight Olga but isn't her match and killed. Olga lead a handful of other warriors to hunt and kill Michael and others.

They decided to head the opposite direction in order to throw Olga off but she is a really good hunter, catching up on them very soon. They have to rest in the snow and the distance got cut short. Chased into the woods and jump down to the river to escape but 1 got killed.

At night, Michael and one guy cross to their camp site to attack but Olga and gang are already at their side killing all. 1 guy injured and left to die. JJ and another escaped. The duo return and carry the injured guy.

JJ and the other is chase by hungry wolves, he pretend to fall down and then cuts the guy's leg in order to escape. Michael and others seek shelter in a hut belong to Imogen Poots, an outcast witch of Picts.

She give them cover. Olga hunt her way to the hut but didn't manage to fish them out as Imogen hides them in an attic. The trio has to leave to join their troops but when they reach the fort, got to know they were pull out.

Olga and gang reached the place and Michael said he is sick of running and gonna engage battle with them. After some fierce fight, Michael killed Olga and one of them is killed. JJ join them at night in the woods.

Almost reaching their base camp, Michael and JJ fought for his betrayal of those dead soldiers. The other guy was killed by arrow near the camp. The emperor didn't want the downfall of the ninth region be known to others and want Michael dead.

He ran away to the woods to find Imogen, end of story. Now he is fugitive of the roman army.
