Review of Cemetery Man (1994) by Josh S — 07 Aug 2007
?I'd give my life to be dead?
Cemetery man has finally came out on dvd, (or as it?s more commonly known, Dellamorte Dellamore)and I believe it is nothing short of a genius film, in my not some humble but correct opinion. The film stars Rupert Evertt and is directed by Italian director Michele Soavi. I don?t really feel the need to explain the plot because even though it?s awesome, it?s not what makes this film great. I think this film can be appreciated greatly and almost equally but many groups of films fans. For example people who just love watching blood and guys will no doubt love this, also it has black humor...some of the death scenes are incredibility laugh out loud funny. This movie is also very abstract, which means film snobs who love the smell of their own poo will like it. There are so many possible theories concerning what it?s really about and in particular scenes, I recently read a great explanation of the movie but I don?t know if there is an official meaning or not. It?s filled with social commentary and meanings of death and how people deal with it. The end scene alone I think can serve as a topic for an essay. Also it works really well as just a funny Shaun of the Dead type film too, so if you don?t feel like analyzing it, don?t. Not that I normally care about this but the film is also shot very well and the scenes just look amazing and like art. I think this movie has something for everyone, unless you get grossed out by guts and stuff.
